The platform’s focus is on simplicity and ease of use, allowing users to quickly manage projects, track equipment purchases, and handle approvals and certificates seamlessly.
The development of Smart E-commerce Operations Hub followed an agile approach, focusing on incremental delivery in sprints. By leveraging Next.js and Supabase, we ensured that the platform was fast, scalable, and secure, with integrated authentication and real-time updates. The Makerkit boilerplate was utilized for a structured, modular development process, providing pre-configured user authentication, API structure, and database models. This approach allowed us to focus on building the platform’s unique features while ensuring best practices for scalability, maintainability, and quick deployment.

Smart E-commerce Operations Hub was designed to serve as a centralized system where contractors, distributors, and admins each have their own role-specific workflows. The platform should support project management, equipment handling, approvals, payments, and notifications.
The Smart E-commerce Operations Hub platform is built on a solid Next.js frontend that handles both the UI and backend logic with server-side rendering (SSR) for performance and SEO. The backend is powered by Supabase, which manages authentication (Supabase Auth), database (PostgreSQL), real-time updates, and file storage. Stripe is integrated for payment processing, allowing contractors to purchase equipment securely.
The Makerkit Boilerplate was used to quickly set up authentication, APIs, and database models, enabling rapid development. The use of JWT tokens ensures secure authentication, and Row-Level Security (RLS) in Supabase enforces fine-grained access control for different user roles.
Developing Smart E-commerce Operations Hub was an exciting journey centered on building a scalable and secure platform for the construction industry. By using Next.js for dynamic rendering and Supabase for real-time database management, we ensured that the platform could handle a wide variety of user interactions smoothly. Throughout the development process, we faced several challenges, particularly with role-based access control (RBAC) and real-time notifications. Ensuring that each role only had access to relevant data while maintaining system performance during real-time updates was a critical concern. Additionally, integrating Stripe for secure payments while syncing with project approval workflows required careful attention to ensure seamless transaction processing. Despite these challenges, the team overcame each obstacle, ensuring the platform was both functional and secure.
